Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA), an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is comprised of more than 360,000 initiated members in graduate and undergraduate chapters located in 12 nations and territories throughout the world. Led by International President & CEO Danette Anthony Reed of Dallas, Texas, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, often is hailed as “America’s premier Greek-letter organization for African American women.”

Alpha Alpha Omicron Omega Chapter was chartered on March 7, 2021, making it the first Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter chartered during the COVID-19 pandemic. This historical charter occurred under the leadership of the 30th International President Dr. Glenda Glover, and the 26th South Central Regional Director, Joya T. Hayes, enabling our members to broaden the footprint of our sorority by expanding the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® brand of service to the underserved cities and towns within and around Kaufman and Rockwall Counties, located east of Dallas County.

Alpha Alpha Omicron Omega Chapter became the 138th chapter in the South Central Region, the first four lettered chapter chartered in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, and the first of the Divine Nine Greek organizations established to service the areas in and around Kaufman and Rockwall counties in Texas, just east of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.  Our members are committed to maintaining, growing, and rendering Service to All Mankind to our aforementioned underserved areas.
